About Us

Here at The Considered Journey, we realise how important travel is to you and that it is therefore critical to make the very most of it.

The reason we understand this is that it is important for us too! In fact, we spend so much (maybe too much time) planning how to make our journeys that it verges on obsession! The same goes for reflecting on them afterwards to think of anything that we might do differently.

The thing that really excites us is sharing information about journeys and destinations with the aim of really helping to develop an understanding of the culture, history and story of a place.

​

Now, we can’t stand show-offs or things that are overly ostentatious so this site isn’t just) an endless parade of perfect sunsets, fancy cocktails and sports cars (in truth, there may be some of the former two, but none of the latter!).

Instead, what we’re talking about here is a real exchange of information – tips, insights and accounts to help ensure that every trip is as memorable as possible. This site will therefore be a mixture of tips, destination highlights, travel accounts and reviews, with sometimes as much focus on the journey as the destination.

After travelling as much as possible around the world over the past 15 years or so, we have experienced the cheap and the expensive, the urban and rural, tourist honeypots and the road less travelled. Most recently, we have decided to check out from our corporate day jobs and embark upon travel-focused career breaks. This has allowed us to undertake some of the longer, overland trips that simply weren’t possible to fit into the standard two-week holiday/vacation windows of most jobs.

Therefore, we hope that regardless of your destination, your level of planning, or your budget that you will find something here that will be of real benefit in maximising your travel experience.
